Job Title Senior Strategy Business Development Manager Location Quincy, MA or Fair Lakes, Virginia Job Description Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a passionate, experienced Senior Strategy Business Development Manager (SBDSM) to support a line of autonomous undersea products from their Quincy, Massachusetts facility. The SBDSM will lead the formulation of strategy and business development activities for unmanned maritime systems initiatives for our client, including cultivating key U.S Government and International customers, developing and leading capture teams for new programs and business ventures, managing the segment's annual investment funds, and leading the development of long range strategic plans. The SBDSM reports to the UDS Strategy and Business Development Director (SBDD) in the Maritime Strategic Systems Line of Business. The SBDSM will support the Business Segment Director, working in tandem with the Senior Sales and Marketing managers. Unmanned maritime systems is a strategic growth area within our client's business area. Our client has a long history of work in robotic and unmanned systems (UxV). Our client has a commitment to long-term strategic growth in this area for UDS for both military and commercial applications. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or Master's degree plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations. Clearance Requirements Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. The individual selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required. Key Responsibilities The position is the business development lead responsible for developing and executing business strategy in support of growing our market share within the unmanned maritime systems market. The candidate will work with customers and industry partners and draw upon the broader capabilities of our client to be successful. Knowledge of unmanned maritime vehicle (undersea and surface UxV) technologies and government, academic, and industry participants in the developing UxV defense and commercial markets is strongly preferred. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills and an ability to rapidly grasp advanced technologies and how they may be applied to satisfy customer requirements. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated ability to work both independently and within highly motivated teams. Experience in business development, program management, systems engineering, autonomous vehicles, and in understanding government contracting procedures and business development methodologies, including bid and capture strategies, is strongly desired. Proven, relevant and current industry business experience or operational andor business experience with the US Navy UxV and submarine communities, including PEO Submarines (PEO SUB), SPAWAR, DARPA, ONR, OPNAV, and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is preferred. Experience with both government acquisition and transactional product sales is desired. Requires a technical background to ensure technical decisions can be vetted and optimal solutions are presented to potential customers. This job is both strategic and tactical, and requires substantial leadership in opportunity capture and business strategyvision as well as an ability to work independently.
