About the Role

The SVP of Media Planning & Strategy is a client leader and guide. This person will serve as the backbone and director of all of a client brand's media activities and will have a full team to support them in this effort.

The success of this role will be measured by:

  1. Direct client feedback on the quality of the team's work and the value the agency brings to the client and brand team
  2. The profitability of the accounts and organic growth. The SVP will also be asked to contribute to new business as needed
  3. Staff development, employee morale and employee retention

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university
  • 10+ years' progressive experience within recognized media agencies
  • 10+ years' experience developing advertising media campaigns for brand-name Fortune 1000 brand clients across both traditional and digital media
  • 5+ years' experience training and managing a staff of media agency employees
  • 5+ years' experience acting as primary client day-to-day lead contact
  • Successful experience participating in and securing new business accounts for media agency
  • Proven experience bringing innovation and new marketing concepts to clients

  • Familiarity with common media research tools like MRI, ComScore, WARC, etc.

  • Proven ability to develop strong professional relationships
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively

Media Planning and Execution

  • Oversight on all aspects of client's media services
  • Collaborates with all partners to develop new learning opportunities
  • Provides meaningful insights and input into existing and emerging media opportunities
  • Working knowledge of Traditional media including TV, Radio, Print, and Outdoor Media
  • Has a deep understanding of available media tactics and can provide POVs as needed

Client & Internal Relationships

  • Responsible for managing and maintaining day to day client relationship including expectations and deliverables
  • Train, motivate & develop AMD, Media Supervisors, Media Planners, Assistant Media Planners
  • Providing oversight to AMD and the media team to implement and manage media plan development, negotiation and/or execution
  • Works closely with client end to end from strategy through reporting utilizing excellent client leadership and management skills
  • Participates and leads in client and partner calls
  • Establishes a collaborative working relationship with all cross department teams
  • Works with supervisors and junior members to help manage time and ensure successful completion of all projects


  • Ensures and maintains constant communication between all stakeholders (clients, vendors, internal teams)
  • Helps develop POVs and meaningful insights
  • Ensures the team is regularly informed and updated regarding client needs and strategies
