Pricing Strategy and Analytics Associate

  • The Pricing Strategy and Analytics team is a small, nimble team that plays a significant cross-functional role across all businesses, asset classes, vehicles, and regions
  • We thrive in analytical and collaborative settings and are looking for a team member to work with us and our BlackRock partners to help analyze and respond to pricing dynamics across the industry
  • Our team is part of BlackRock's Strategic Product Management (SPM) team, which works to bring innovation, discipline, and focus to BlackRock's investment product line by partnering with Client Businesses, Investment Teams, and Corporate Functions on product priorities
  • The Pricing team is currently based in San Francisco and New York, with backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, investment operations, product marketing, and client service in Europe, the US, Latin America, and Asia
  • We work with a diverse set of stakeholders, from our Product colleagues to client-facing marketing, sales, and product strategy teams

What We Do

  • Analyze industry and firm pricing trends across all business lines and asset classes
  • Work with product strategy and client teams to develop pricing analyses and recommendations for client negotiations. Model complex fee and repricing scenarios as part of these discussions
  • Accelerate contractual negotiations by leveraging existing precedents and comparable cases
  • Document and socialize best practices in pricing with BlackRock stakeholders
  • Plan and execute on longer-term strategic pricing projects with teams across BlackRock
  • Design and build data driven pricing models to add repeatability and scale to our analysis

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Financial modelling: Reading fee proposals and RFPs, identifying the drivers of financial outcomes, and modelling the changes to those drivers across multiple scenarios
  • Trend analyzing: Reviewing pricing data to identify and analyze trends across BlackRock book
  • Price testing: Responding to sales and product strategist questions regarding appropriate and comparable price levels
  • KPI development and dashboard support: Identifying available data sources and scoring them for quality and coverage; developing calculation logics for KPIs; visualizing outputs in Tableau
  • Communication and collaboration: Communicating results of analyses with team members across BlackRock and collaborating with them to decide on commercial solutions
  • The person hired will be part of a newer team at BlackRock and therefore will play a critical role in building the team's infrastructure and setting its vision

  • Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize effectively, multi-task quickly and efficiently and adapt to new situations in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be comfortable gathering and synthesizing data, drawing conclusions, and summarizing/translating output into relevant commercial takeaways for different audiences
  • Experienced user of financial modelling and data mining / sourcing tools (advanced excel, SQL, Tableau, Python), proficiency in PowerPoint
