Job Summary:
The Performance Improvement Facilitator works under the direction of the VP of Clinical Services to constantly improve the day-to-day functioning of various service lines within VEP Healthcare. The majority of Performance Improvement activities will focus on the Emergency Department, however involvement with other service lines is also anticipated. These service lines include, but are not limited to Emergency Departments, Hospitalist services, Intensivist services, and pulmonary inpatient and outpatient services. The Performance Improvement Facilitator will work closely with the VEP Healthcare Executives, Regional and Site specific Medical Directors and APC Leadership teams. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong problem solving skills, the ability to independently obtain data to support service line operations, and the ability to prioritize tasks and projects. The employee shall be self-motivated and complete projects with little supervision and must know when to ask for guidance and/or assistance. Must demonstrate a strong commitment to customer-focus, attention to detail and be able to learn processes quickly and remain organized. This position will work remotely away from the Corporate Office, may include working from home, and requires frequent travel to various facilities. Travel to facilities may be significant
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Independently facilitate improvement teams effectively using relationships to facilitate change.
  • Apply a broad range of PI tools and methodologies, when appropriate, such as Lean and Six Sigma, which leads to a positive and measurable impact on process and outcome measures, including quality of care and clinical outcomes, efficiency of providing service, and financial metrics.
  • Along with VEP Healthcare leadership, identify, develop and implement key metrics to measure process and performance improvement while assuring integrity of data sets and data elements through routine and systematic procedures.
  • Conducts analysis and modification of projects to improve health care delivery.
  • Effectively utilize problem-solving techniques as well as support VEP Healthcare monitoring efforts of key metrics.
  • Effectively communicate by verbal and written methods to provide concise reports of activities and results to support performance improvement activities for VEP Healthcare leadership, hospital leadership, and front-line providers and hospital staff.
  • Independently prioritize work to support multiple projects and meet deadlines, handling day-to-day operational aspects of project and scope ensuring project documents are complete, current and accurate.
  • Maintain strong knowledge in PI methodology, tools, and theory.
  • Researches best performance and quality improvement practices and introduces these concepts to the healthcare team and assists with implementation of these practices.

  • This position works remotely, away from the VEP Healthcare Corporate Office.
  • Travel required-approximately 60%. Job duties will be performed through travel to contracted facilities on a regular basis to assess, implement, and monitor change processes.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing, or similar degree. RN preferred.
  • At least three years of experience as Senior Shift Lead or Department Manager in an Emergency Department treating at least 25,000 patients per year.
  • Demonstrable experience leading performance improvement activities in a hospital based setting.

  • Occasionally may be required to lift and move office equipment or other items up to 10 pounds.
