Operational Excellence Director- Supply Chain/Sourcing (610833) - Warsaw , Indiana, United States, 46581
Apply principles of Class A, project management, lean manufacturing and six sigma and other CI methodologies to support operational business objectives. Partner with Quality and the rest of the organization for quality culture enhancement thru Quality Begins with Me (QBWM) program.
This role is hands on and directly accountable for business results. Requires the ability to contribute as both a leader and individual contributor across complex CI projects. This position will work closely with BU Leadership and across functions to drive improvement efforts. Reports to the VP of Operational Excellence, with dotted line reporting responsibilities for the OpEx managers/site leaders, and liaison responsibilities to leaders of business units/groups and corporate functions.
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and deploy strategic improvement initiatives applicable across Supply Chain and Sourcing segments, functions, and regions. Work with leaders in these areas to develop key strategies of operational excellence aligned against operations business objectives.
Drive company-wide lean initiatives to improve operational effectiveness as measured by quality, lead-time reduction, and margins.
Create environment to drive key business results by leading complex projects and acting as a change agent of continuous improvement.
Establish road map for Zimmer Biomet Operating System enhancement and deployment.
Act as Coach in Lean Academy for ZBOS Education and Workflow Lean Transformation.
Participate in the development of new products or processes to anticipate efficiencies and productivity design.
Participate with sourcing on Supplier Development by facilitating training and A3 Coaching.
Facilitate and Coach Strategy Deployment and Value Stream Analysis Tools
Responsible for coaching and developing site OpEx managers and site leaders to strengthen their CI methodologies, knowledge, and skills.
Responsible for onboarding OpEx managers and site leaders into the Operational Excellence Road Map, including processes and systems.
Participate in the deployment of Quality Begins With Me Program.
Establish governance, standards, measurement, and reporting processes, as needed for critical success indicators at their BU's /Regions.
Build the Operational Excellence infrastructure needed to integrate all business excellence and CI methodologies into the culture of the entire organization.
Responsible for the planning and delivery of the organization's OpEx training, in alignment with Corporate OpEx standards and guidelines. (DMAIC/PDCA methodologies, Lean Six Sigma, Class A, and DFSS, TPM)
Implement Enterprise Excellence Assessment Model and Quality Begins with Me training and culture building initiatives.
Accountable to identify, lead, and implement, both personally and as team lead, CI projects that result in organizational savings as defined as part of goals and objectives. Achievement of defined savings requirement will be part of annual performance expectations.
Responsible for the development of cost saving systems, tracking and deployment of the program:
o Design and manage enterprise wide project master tracker
o Work with finance to verify and capture savings and prepare Cost Savings Budget plan
o Ensure the projects are tracked and results are maintained, communicated, and summarized monthly/quarterly
Perform related duties as required.
Expected Areas of CompetenceBroad business knowledge and ability to link customer needs with Supply Chain and Sourcing processes.
Ability to apply, teach and coach statistical analysis for operations to such tasks as basic descriptive statistics, graphical analysis, quality tools and test reliability in software.
Evidence of successful implementation of lean continuous improvement resulting in improved performance in quality, lead-time and productivity Ability to influence teams and work in a matrix organization with dotted line vertically.
Solid planning, organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and assimilate new information quickly and balance priorities
Strong knowledge and experience applying problem solving tools.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport across the company while quickly and confidently gaining respect of others, including superior listening and probing skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization, essential for the variety of roles this position requires: trainer, coach, and mentor.
An understanding of and proficiency in Change Management.
Advanced skills in MS Office and statistical software packages (Minitab, VISIO, etc.)
Education/Experience RequirementsBachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Psychology or related field with Six Sigma or Lean Sigma certification required.
Operations Management certification is a plus (APICS CPIM).
10+ years Supply Chain and or Sourcing related experience required
Travel RequirementsThis position requires travel both U.S. domestically and internationally. Travel up to 50%.
