The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination of the financial planning functions in support of the Nuveen Advisory Service (NAS) division, which includes distribution, product, solutions, and marketing. The candidate will be a strategic partner to the executives within NAS and as such will need to provide reporting, financial modeling, strategic insight and guidance to support decision making and execution. The position plays a key role supporting the long term growth strategy of our company and ensures we have the proper service that supports this vision.. Lead expense planning and forecasting efforts for NAS, including staffing decisions and strategic spend investments. Consult with business leaders to develop and identify cost savings opportunities.. Coordinate the joint development of sales and net flows projections in consultation with the NAS and investment teams. Maintain ongoing projections for sales and net flows, and provide analytical analysis to illustrate to management (e.g. pipeline by channel or dry powder).. Provide business partners with a monthly review of financial results, including AUM, sales, net flows, revenue, expense and headcount.. Oversee the development of quarterly analytical P&Ls, which includes segmenting the business by distribution organization, investment vehicle, asset class and geography.. Manage allocated cost assumptions of NAS departments, and monitor costs received by product from within Nuveen and TIAA.. Collaborate with the business to develop profitability analysis for strategic initiatives, key distribution relationships as well as the design of sales compensation programs.. Participate on product committee which includes the ongoing review of the existing and proposed product portfolio. Collaborate with the business to develop profitability analysis for new product launches and provide key insights for product pricing. Monitor ongoing product portfolio and recommend opportunities to streamline operations and enhance profitability. Oversee 15c regulatory reporting supporting pricing of Nuveen fund complex.. Develop performance measures to support the companys strategic direction, including strategic spending scorecards and appropriate benchmarking for measuring the financial and operating performance of the division.. Problem solve situations, with medium to high complexity, to provide relevant financial advice and support. The challenges in this space are often new or transformational in nature.. Provide general leadership for the NAS finance team, including hiring and termination decisions, completion of performance appraisals and development plans for direct reports during the annual and interim performance evaluation process.. Ensure that adequate staff and other resources are trained, available and assigned to meet operating objectives.. Required Skills:. 15+ years of finance experience in progressively larger roles, including broad management roles. BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA, CPA or equivalent experience required. The position requires a strong foundation of Finance and Accounting coupled with management reporting given the breadth of businesses supported.. Ability to navigate complex interpersonal situations, including influencing senior level leaders regarding matters of importance to the organization or presenting budgets, forecasts or other relevant data.. Develop, maintain and strengthen relationships with key business partners across the organization.. Experience with and deep understanding of the asset management industry. Ability to manage and develop a large matrix organization working closely with other senior management to build an effective and efficient financial planning organization.
