Role Overview:

Good Reason Houston is seeking a Manager of Strategy & Analytics who is self-directed, passionate about data, and excited about working in a start-up environment. The Manager of Strategy & Analytics will support the Strategy & Data team by analyzing and visualizing data to drive Good Reason Houston's strategy and decisions.

This position reports to the Managing Director of Strategy, Data, and Ops, and will play a key role in ensuring that Good Reason Houston realizes its vision that every child, in every neighborhood, excels in a world-class public school and thrives in the Houston of tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

Strategy & Project Management

  • Serve as a critical thought partner with team members to decide what data to collect and analyze to inform key decisions
  • Analyze data, problem-solve, and make recommendations on strategies for Good Reason Houston to pursue
  • Leverage disparate data sets for problem-solving purposes
  • Conduct research as needed and provide recommendations to guide organizational strategy

Analytics

  • Work with partner districts and organizations to obtain the necessary data
  • Ensure compliance with partner district data sharing agreements
  • Work with multiple data sets from partnering school districts to create cohesive and clean reports
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications to develop and produce Good Reason Houston's annual, city-wide scorecard
  • Produce reports and dashboards for scorecard, meetings and other external communications
  • Analyze annual teacher and leader survey results and provide insights and recommendations
  • Support Good Reason Houston and partner organizations in implementing data solutions that help measure and improve outcomes for students
  • Assess technical feasibility of proposed programs and solutions; anticipate and problem-solve for technical implementation of those solutions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Extremely strong organization skills
  • Logical and systematic approach to solving analytical tasks
  • Strong project management skills
  • Intense attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to produce quality work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to translate data outputs into meaningful insights
  • Ability to simplify and visually present findings to a variety of audiences and stakeholders
  • Ability to internalize feedback with open demeanor and adapt quickly based on changing information
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and navigating complex data questions
  • Team before individual mindset
  • Flexibility and desire to work in a start-up environment
  • Demonstrated passion for the transformative power of education
  • Expert Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Strong data visualization skills
  • Prior experience as a consultant preferred
