Job Description

The NFL Strategy group is seeking a Manager who will support key business initiatives across the department's three pillars of Strategic Planning, Special Projects, and Data & Analytics, to help drive effective decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the sports-media-entertainment landscape (domestic and international), the ability to work cross-functionally across a complex matrixed organization, and strong leadership qualities. Additionally, fluency in financial statements and general analytical capabilities are required.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning
    • Support development of League-wide and department-specific business plans on both annual and rolling bases, including development and institutionalization of strategic priorities, KPIs, and investment allocation across initiatives
    • Synthesize and diligence key League investment and growth opportunities (e.g., financial modeling, IRR / ability-to-pay analysis), and collaborate with key internal stakeholders to assess attractiveness of opportunities across a variety of considerations
  • Special Projects
    • Develop strategy and execute rigorous analysis on major League initiatives (e.g., international growth, gaming, social media strategy)
    • Assess strategic vs. financial value of individual League initiatives and in the context of broader market trends
    • Serve as point of contact / project manager for cross functional teams to execute League strategy projects
  • Data & Analytics
    • Support D&A group on key League and fan analyses (e.g., fan segmentation, media consumption, purchase patterns)
    • Liaise cross-functionally with other League departments and external partners on common data initiatives (e.g., partner and club consulting)


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree (e.g., MBA) or equivalent a plus
  • 4+ years of experience in investment banking, consulting, sports business, and/or other relevant analytical fields
  • Deep understanding of sports business and macro trends, including media, live events, fan behavior, and marketing
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, problem solving skills, and presentation skills
  • Ability to transition seamlessly between high-level strategy ('seeing the entire picture') and high-touch tactical execution ('in the weeds')
  • Successful track record of working in complex organizations at the mid to senior levels of leadership... ability to 'connect-the-dots'
  • Consummate team player who can find and leverage common ground to build strong partnerships among colleagues and peers; can effectively influence others without direct control
