Newport News Shipbuilding s IT Digital Transformation team is seeking a Manager to work closely with the leadership of the Digital Capabilities Lab (Dogfish Labs). The manager will oversee teams of technical experts in the completion of application development projects. Responsible for the direct supervisionmanagement of teams of software and systems engineers, designers, and UIUX developers. Responsible for creating an environment that enables innovation and creative problem solving across multiple technical disciplines. Responsible for maturing new solutions and transitioning proven solutions into production. Responsible for driving the execution for building out scalable and highly resilient solutions within set budgets and schedules. Must be able to work at a strategic and tactical level to maximize business value through team output of new and integrated solutions. Manager will be responsible for growing the DevOps culture within the NNS environment. Must be able to hire, manage, coach, and develop a team of solutions engineers, application developers, and designers with great technical skills, characteristics, and team fit. While competence is required in software engineering, preference will be shown to candidates who can demonstrate an ability to arrange high functioning teams in agile environments, and leadguide teams to complete projects through engaged autonomy. Manager shall be familiar with software development, industrial engineering, and digital design methods. Full working knowledge of company procedures and practices is expected. Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts will occur. Manager conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for both internal and external representatives concerning projects. Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline or the equivalent in education, training and experience, plus a minimum of 6 years of applicable, progressive professional andor supervisory work experience. Master's degree and 4 years relevant experience.
