Job Description IT Program Manager Engagement 6-12 month consulting Location Syracuse, NY The IT Program Manager Contractor must have strong practical experience in program and project management for information technology projects, which was gained through managing large and complex programs and projects. Duties and Responsibilities Lead and manage a collection of related IT projects in a coordinated way to obtain better benefitscontrols Coordinate projects and their interdependencies in the program Ensure all program milestones are completed on-time, within scope, and within budget Develop and manage program budget through partnership with IT leaders Define and implement an effective system of program governance (controls) monitor, control and report progress Proactively manage changes in scope, identify and analyze potential crises, and devise contingency plans Effectively deliver team member and stakeholder communications in a timely, clear, and compelling fashion Deliver progress updates regularly Ensure open communication Communicate with senior leadership across all areas of the organization Present reports defining plans, problems, and resolutions to appropriate levels of management Create and maintain scorecards to track vendor and partner performance Work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes Combine business acumen, technical acumen and process expertise to define engagement and program execution Skills Required Exceptional knowledge and handling of project and program management methodology and techniques Strong leadership and management skills Superior listening, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read communication styles of team members from a broad spectrum of disciplines Expert knowledge of budgeting, finance management, resource allocation, planning and schedule development Innovative problem solving Proven ability to influence and gain buy-in at multiple levels, across divisions, functions and cultures comfort working with executive level management Demonstrated ability to achieve results through cross-functional, virtual teams Solid understanding of software development life cycle models, including full life cycle of the QA Expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional Waterfall project management principles and practices middot Mastery of software programs and tools including MS Word Excel PowerPoint Visio SharePoint TFS JIRA Demonstrated success using project management software, such as MS Project andor Smartsheet Previous experience with PPM software such as Innotas, Planview, andor Workfront is a plus Ability to adapt approach to the context and constraints of each project Organized with a keen attention to detail Talent for handling shifting priorities demands timelines and effectively executing tasks in a fast-paced environment Ability to react to program adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently is crucial Experience managing offshore teams andor 3rd party vendors Must know, understand, and apply new technologies, including but not limited to a strong working knowledge of digital and cloud technologies Must be willing and able to reflect the organizational culture and strategy Qualifications middot Bachelor degree (required) or Master degree (preferred) in a discipline with technology focus middot Professional certification from an accredited institute (PgMP preferred) 10+ years direct Project Management (PM) work experience managing Application Development, Infrastructure, Business Intelligence, Digital, andor Cloud technologies 5+ years of Program Management in Information Technology, with demonstrated success 3+ years PM or PgMP experience communicating managing stakeholders at the Executive level
