Head of Supply Chain and Manufacturing - Seattle, Washington, United States, 98101

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

  • Develop, implement and manage procedures to establish proper connection among internal and external Manufacturing, Finance, Commercial, Procurement and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Maintain manufacturing forecast and production plans in alignment with the existing demand and business aspirations;
  • Develop, implement and manage S&OP process in collaboration with Commercial and internal and external Manufacturing operations and Finance;
  • Oversee shipping and receiving operations for domestic and international business;
  • Lead identification and management of distributors and logistics vendors across the markets.
  • Define and implement critical and supporting manufacturing/production processes in line with GMP and ISO requirements, and put in place quality control to support end-to-end value chain;
  • Implement Lean and Six Sigma practices in production labs and manufacturing operations to improve productivity and efficiencies;
  • Ensure continuous improvement mindset and implementation of innovation to support efficient operations of the growing manufacturing needs;
  • Maintain strong collaboration and best practice exchange with R&D;
  • Identify manufacturing KPIs and tracking procedures and deliver regular manufacturing reviews with the relevant stakeholders internally and externally;
  • Identify, contract and manage Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) in line with the business needs;
  • Secure alignment of Quality Systems as well as financial and supply tracking with the CMOs;
  • Anticipate and manage fluctuations in production volumes and ensure the supply meets the demand;
  • Lead CMO negotiations, ensure proper change control processes and joint manufacturing and quality reviews with the CMO partners.
  • Identify the need and manage procurement of raw materials, supplies, and equipment to maintain effective and efficient business operations across all functions;
  • Develop and maintain vendor management processes and tools;
  • Lead negotiations to ensure required quality, quantity and cost of procured materials and services;
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with the vendors of business critical supplies;
  • Implement dual-sourcing strategies in line with Business Continuity Planning;
  • Manage conflict resolution and feedback processes with the vendors as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Engineering or other relevant areas is required; Master's degree is preferred;
  • At least ten years of experience working in the Life Sciences industry and GMP environment;
  • At least five years of experience in managing Supply Chain/Operations is required;
  • Proven track record of strong people leadership skills and cross-functional collaboration;
  • Hands-on experience with Lean, Six Sigma and Operational Excellence initiatives;
  • Strong skill set in managing external relationships and negotiations;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer;
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times;
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally up to 25% of the time.
  • Demonstrate experience in effectively building new supply chain and processes from scratch;
  • Have the ability to switch seamlessly between strategic perspective and operational considerations;
  • Have education and substantial experience in industrial and process engineering;
  • Have several years of experience in leading manufacturing operations in a GMP environment.
