The Director of Public Relations will develop strategies and create campaigns and programs to build awareness and enhance the Build-A-Bear brand, corporate reputation, new innovation developments and overall business results through activations involving various media channels and contacts. This individual will be responsible for the external communications functions for the company as well as influencing internal employee engagement.Responsibilities:* Development and execution of global PR strategy to support company's short- and long-term goals with a focus on business innovation, thought and executive leadership, philanthropic support, brand and product support with emphasis on corporate-managed territories;* Effective partnership with Public Relations agencies including selection, budgeting and expense management;* Work closely with all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and external agencies, including, mainstream, social media and philanthropic partners;* Integrate Marketing communications and public relations activities with comprehensive corporate marketing campaigns and programs to promote key products and events to drive sales and profits;* Build and develop strong, diverse communications capabilities in existing and new team members and serve as a leader by coaching to help team realize full potential;* Serve as a corporate spokesperson as needed and counsel others in the organization to develop a consistent and positive brand and business voice;* Counsel the business, including executive leadership, franchise community and partners, to align on a clear and consistent point of view regarding reputational issues;* Drive a strong connection between external, brand and internal communication strategies and messages by partnering with other team members to appropriately message, pace and sequence communications;* Support and act on corporate crisis management needs, including preparedness, incident response, media/consumer outreach and recovery* Partner with internal and external partners to ensure that all visual materials are consistent with the marketing positioning of the brand* Make customers (external and internal) and their needs a primary focus by developing and sustaining productive consumer and customer relationships and collaboratively create and execute plans and solutions for the business;* Support investor relations activities, as needed.Qualifications:* Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience required in entertainment, retail or consumer products marketing communication in a corporate or agency setting* Master's degree with 7-10 years of experience preferred with strong working relations with traditional and social media contacts as well as supervising and leveraging agency resources* Experience operating in organizations dealing with complex issues and crisis management* Proven track record in developing and delivering effective and engaging internal communications in a large organization* Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills* Ability to take initiative in developing strategic plans and executing to achieve business goals as well as exerting personal influence* Exceptional track record of delivering results and proven record of creating communication platforms that elevate the company and generate results* Proven ability to effectively manage internal and external teams* Proven track record in development of strategic brand advertising and activations is a must* Strong organizational and planning skills are required* Flexible and adaptable to change* Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPointBuild-A-Bear Workshop offers an exciting, fun and fast-paced work environment.
