Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Director, Corporate Data Architecture and Strategy within Corporate Business Technology to be located in New Brunswick NJ.

In this role, you will champion the value creation from data as a strategic discipline within our organization. This includes envisioning data-enabled strategies and enabling all forms of business outcomes through analytics. You will enable a proactive and open culture that can rapidly generate actionable insights which accelerate business value realization.

Partnering with business and technology leaders, you will lead an assessment of data assets spread across various transactional sources, in-memory data stores, logical and physical data warehouses, and data lakes. You will analyze how the data is used by various business processes and will build the data strategy to enable business outcomes. You will define the target state architecture and develop the roadmap from current to target state, taking into account key business priorities in Finance, HR, Procurement, Global Services and other corporate functions.

This role will contribute to overall JNJ enterprise data vision and will provide guidance to the project teams on the data flows and integration decisions in alignment with enterprise data strategy.

This individual will champion prototyping, piloting, building and sustaining capabilities for self-service and advanced analytics.

  • Develop the data strategy to exploit the value of enterprise information assets and the analytics used to render insights for decision making and reporting. The strategy should enable timely access to reliable and consistent data, with the ability to trace lineage to the source.
  • Own the development, publication and maintenance of information architecture, as well as a roadmap for its future development that matches and supports business needs
  • Identify and standardize the use and governance of data and analytics in support of the Corporate functions business strategy. This includes data sourcing, analysis, analytical applications and automated decision making.
  • Be the corporate leader of building innovative insights that help support exploitation of strategic and tactical business opportunities, and be a champion for a data-informed decision-making culture
  • Define, lead and advance information management principles and programs for data stewardship and custodianship
  • Champion master data and data quality strategies
  • Ensure that business reports derived from controlled data are consistent and representative of the true state of the business.
  • Lead exploration and adoption of advanced analytics, using data science, machine learning, data mining and visualization technologies
  • Develop the integration strategy and guide decisions for selecting and implementing the appropriate integration technology platforms and solutions to address key business needs
  • Facilitate the evolution to self-service analytics and data preparation


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in information or IT management
  • Five or more years of dynamic leadership experience in leading multi-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs, operating and influencing across the organization and within complex contexts
  • Experience developing data, analytics and integration strategies in complex environments
  • Excellent eye for business and interpersonal skills; able to work across business lines at senior levels to influence and effect change to achieve common goals
  • Proven ability to describe business use cases/outcomes, data sources and management concepts, and analytical approaches/options
  • Broad experience in multiple domain areas, such as data warehousing, data lakes, data hubs, business intelligence (BI), data governance, data architecture, data integration, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, MDM, data standards
  • Critical thinking, visionary and foresight to conceptualize new solutions that address core business objectives
  • Superb communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Executive presentation skills
  • Ability to handle complexity and ambiguity
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

  • Experience with data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics concepts and methods is strongly preferred
  • Experience with SAP Financial and Supply Chain modules, processes, transactions and data structures
  • Project management experience
