The Corporate Finance Advisory (CFA) group is a global multi-disciplinary team focused on differentiating J.P. Morgan's investment banking services. It is comprised of experts in corporate finance, M&A, financing solutions, tax, accounting, structured products and derivatives. The group sits in between the industry coverage teams and product teams (Equity/Debt Capital Markets, Derivatives, etc.) and focuses on complex or special situations that may require a novel solution or cross-sector analytics. This may include capital structure/capital allocation, structured M&A/strategic alternatives, financing solutions, and/or producing content on trending topics or emerging themes relevant to management teams.

Your responsibilities as a Tax and M&A Transaction Structuring Associate may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Preparing presentation materials and participating in deal pitches, especially with complex tax and/or M&A elements
  • Working with senior members of the Tax and M&A transaction structuring team within Corporate Finance Advisory
  • Partnering with Investment Banking coverage and capital markets partners to executing client transactions from start to closing
    • For example, separations (spin-offs, split-offs, Reverse Morris Trust, etc.), capital markets transactions, and financings / monetizations
  • Keeping abreast of new topics in tax or M&A structuring that may be of interest to corporate clients
  • Building and/or evaluating financial models to address new problems and questions from management teams
  • Producing content around trending topics and emerging themes
  • Learning and interacti ng with J.P. Morgan's clients, products, services, and business practices

Qualification s

  • Qualifications for this particular Tax and M&A Structuring Associate:
    • Requires prior experience at a major law firm (or substantially similar)
    • Degree in law required; strong preference for tax background
    • Candidate should have experience in M&A and capital markets transactions
