We are looking for a dynamic leader who can build an Algorithm and Data Strategy Architect for IMS, working in coordination with IMS engineering leadership and other applicable L3Harris Segment teams. The position requires a combination of engineering and business development skills to craft advanced solutions to complex problems, capture funding necessary for development of innovative sensors and systems, and help guide the successful development of industry-leading products. The ideal candidate should have experience with the following:

Customer-Focused Requirements Development - demonstrated ability to enter the customer's environment, find out how the customer will use the system, and translate that voice of customer into requirements and trade-offs that can be evaluated via alternative designs; additional skill in successfully influencing system requirements at the end customer desired
Creative Solutions - direct contribution to technical solutions that integrate multiple disciplines or technologies into non-obvious system architectures that provide meaningfully unique and differentiated capability; requires understanding of current and proposed competitive solutions, key performance indicators, and end-user mission objectives as well as understanding of interplay between technologies and engineering design
System Modeling and Simulation - track record of developing models for operational environments, performing trade studies and sensitivity analyses, and comparing alternative architectures with system performance estimates and pragmatic estimation of unknown parameters
Test & Verification - can articulate what and how key system performance parameters should be tested early, can outline and write verification test plans for subsystem and system elements, can perform the testing and analyze the results
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Algorithm & Data Strategy Architect will lead the Algorithm and Data Strategy initiative for IMS and ensure alignment of activities to the broader L3Harris algorithm and data strategy at the corporate level. Duties in support of the position include, but are not limited to:

Maintain knowledge of advances of algorithm and data strategy capabilities in industry and academia
Develop and propose new research directions in algorithm and data strategy in support of L3Harris' internal research and development program and sponsors research programs
Evaluate algorithm and data solutions and compare to sponsor requirements and needs
Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements
Perform requirement traceability methods and purpose
Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness
Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs

Conduct discussions with end-users to understand intelligence gaps the algorithms need to close.
Interface with data providers to ensure proper training data is available to support algorithm development.
Coordinate with synthetic data generation groups to supplement available training data to support development of an accurate, efficient, and robust algorithms.
Review and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements
Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical network information to non-technical professionals
Develop strategy for leveraging third party algorithms
Manage Segment Intellectual Property and data rights portfolio and strategy
Design & develop system architectures, define key capabilities, performance requirements, interface definitions, and technology maturity constraints
Define system concept of operations (CONOPS) and implementation approaches that meet mission requirements
Develop models and architectural guidelines for future system development
Provide proposal strategy development and review as required
Advance knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence theory and applied techniques within the Segment
Be a business partner with Sectors and Divisions
Work directly with the Sector and Division IRAD leads to ensure good alignment of IR&D activities
Challenge teams to ensure we have the optimum IR&D plans
Serve as SME for systems architecture and train others to use these techniques
Coach and lead practical problem solving activities including the collation and analysis of data, root cause analyses, design of experiments and lead projects to implement change for complex problems
Liaise with the other Segment architects for best practices
Attend Monthly reviews and capture summary and actions
Monthly status reporting and Corporate HQ reporting
Weekly status reporting

Engineering or managerial degree from an accredited college or University preferred
Position requires access to secret classified (top secret classified desired) information to support company efforts
A Bachelors degree in computer science or related engineering discipline and a minimum of 12 years of applicable experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, languages, platforms, and systems
Experience with algorithm and programming languages such as Matlab, C++, Java, Lisp, Prolog, and Python
Experience in data & algorithm-relevant fields, such as machine learning, deep learning, multi-agent systems, planning, and data science
Experience in Data Frameworks
Very strong leadership attributes, analytical problem solving, and verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Intellectual Property and data rights
Willingness to travel

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise with development lifecycle for advanced image/data processing algorithms and integration of those algorithms into larger operational platform
End to end systems knowledge of the systems used to collect remotely sensed image data for the customer.
Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence theory and applied techniques
Experience with development lifecycle for advanced image/data processing algorithms and integration of those algorithms into larger operational platform
Experience with analysis, exploitation, advanced processing of sensed data eg Visible, SAR, IR, HSI, and LIDAR systems.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to higher levels of customer management
Experience with unstructured data architectures
Experience with enabling third party algorithm development
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; possesses strong organization and prioritization skills.
Ability to teach, mentor and coach people on software-based architecture approaches
Experience with management of hardware and software technology investments
Strong facilitator to lead architecture workshops
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
Experience producing executive summaries and metrics for progress reporting and to communicate opportunities/focus areas
Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment
Experience working with Intellectual Property and Data Rights
Experience working with technology investment portfolios
Experience working with coordinating with multiple teams and leading a common process
Experience working with multiple missions
Experience working with multiple operational domains
MS Degree or higher in artificial intelligence with emphasis in analytics
Experience in defining, developing, and deploying AI solutions
Ability to articulate AI-specific challenges, discuss critical issues, and identify gaps
Active DoD Secret or higher security clearance
